kinship Family Heritage Research Center
kinship is a valuable family history destination offered by the Washington County Historical Society. We want to be your "go to" location if you are a genealogist, historian, student or just interested in family histories. We serve researchers, both experienced and beginner.
kinship's collection of local, regional and national resources includes a wide selection of family history files, city directories, and church and cemetery records, to name a few. Please consult our Resources page for more information.
In addition to discovering your family's history - when, where, and how your ancestors lived - kinship can also help you research historic properties to learn more about them.
What We Offer
Onsite staff are available to introduce you to the center's resources and help guide your research process. Our knowledgeable staff can refer you to additional resources in the area.
Our staff genealogist is in the office Wednesdays from 12-4 and every second Saturday from 10am to 2pm for free consultations. She is available outside of these hours for fee-based services. See Genealogy Services for details.
Workshops and lectures offer both beginner and experienced researchers with support for their investigations. Visit our Events page to see all upcoming kinship events.
Children's programs help young people discover the fun of exploring their ancestry.
