Volunteers

Volunteers (adults and students) are always needed and welcome. There are many ways for students to earn Student Service Learning hours.

Volunteers are especially needed in the following areas:

Genealogy Library
Persons knowledgeable in genealogical research who can help patrons find records and information on their ancestry. Needs to have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Needs to be able to work in the Society's genealogical library at least one day a week for a half day.

Museum Docents
Persons knowledgeable with personal interaction with the public. Needs to have good verbal communication skills. Needs to be able to spend a half day in the afternoon each week at the Miller House Museum or other Society properties as needed.

Gardening
Persons knowledgeable in gardening skills. Needs to be able to plan gardening work and spend one day a week during the growing season at the Society's properties tending to the needs of their garden.

Special Projects
Inventory & cataloging of collections; assistance at events

Internships
The Historical Society has a number of substantive projects involving historical research, historic preservation, and historical interpretation. We tailor tasks and projects to the intern's areas of study and interest.
